The Nigerian film industry is once again in mourning following the tragic passing of Nollywood actress Omotola Odunsi.
Her death was confirmed by fellow actor Akinola Akano, popularly known as Segbowe, who shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional tribute posted on his Instagram account on Thursday.
Segbowe included screenshots of their final conversation, in which Omotola had expressed that she was feeling better after a recent illness.
“Motola! Strange but I tried checking on you at the wee hours of that morning. You said you were FINE & BACK! This is a rude shock, Omotola! Journey well, sister. God be with your family,” he wrote.
Veteran actor Odunlade Adekola, under whom Omotola trained, also reacted with shock and sadness, simply posting: “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”
Omotola Odunsi was known for her work in several Yoruba-language films, including Lisabi: The Uprising, Officer Adaeze, Amonata, Ayanmo Ire, and Ifedayo.
Her death marks another painful loss for Nollywood, and tributes continue to pour in from fans and colleagues alike, remembering her talent, warmth, and contribution to the industry.
