In a groundbreaking partnership, Nollywood powerhouses Inkblot Studios and Filmhouse Group have unveiled Kava, a new global streaming service dedicated exclusively to Nollywood and African storytelling. The platform is slated to launch in August 2025 with over 30 premium titles, including post-theatrical releases and acclaimed Nigerian films and series spanning various genres. New content will be added weekly.
Early featured titles include:
-
Alakada Bad and Boujee (comedy-drama)
-
Owambe Thieves starring Zubby Michael, Odunlade Adekola, and Sola Sobowale
-
What About Us with Kuni Remi and Uzor Arukwe
-
House Job featuring Erica Nlewedim
The creators behind Kava aim to develop exclusive original content in the future. As Nollywood remains the second-largest film industry globally by volume, the founders see Kava as a vital step toward addressing the underrepresentation of African stories on major streaming platforms.
Backed by Inkblot Studios (known for pioneering Amazon Prime and Netflix deals in Africa) and Filmhouse Group (owners of Filmhouse Cinemas and FilmOne Studios), Kava is positioned to become a central hub for African cinematic expression.
“Our vision is to redefine opportunity in Nollywood,” said Kava co-CEO Kene Okwuosa. “Kava will be a launchpad for talent, a driver of innovation, and a global gateway for African creativity.”
