2016 promises to be an amazing year in Nigerian entertainment especially for music lovers.
We are bound to witness more drama than we have witnessed in the past 3 days.
However, what we can’t wait to experience are albums from certain artistes who had major bangers and singles in the past year.
The starboy is set to drop his 3rd album and 1st under his self-owned Starboy label titled, Imprint.
Wizkid whose album was scheduled for release in 2015 got postponed to this year after 2face’s show last year because he wanted to make sure it was the perfect record for fans.
The album is set to feature quite a number of international music stars such as American R’n’B stars, Chris Brown and Ty Dolla $ign, British-Nigerian rapper; Tinie Tempah amongst others.
The album also features Benionise Grammy award winning act Angelique Kidjo.
Just like Wizzy, the OBO singer, whose album ‘OBO Baddest’ was set to be released late last year, also postponed his album to this year.
The rapper said that the postponement was due to a last minute major distribution deal that came through but assured fans the album was going to come in 2016.
The album should be quite exciting as he also has international features on the album.
Fans would be looking out for the Trey Songz feature.
3. Lil Kesh
This is definitely one of the albums the industry is waiting for.
With chart topping hits such as Shoki, Efejoku, Gbese and Is it because I love you, Lil Kesh has showed he is no flash in the pan.
The reason being he has got a lot of people talking and asking questions like would be able to maintain the level he reached in the past year? Can he follow in the footsteps of label boss, Olamide?
He has confirmed that he is working on his album and fans should watch out for the album in 2016.
4. Kiss Daniel
Just like the aforementioned act, the G-worldwide act has drawn quite a huge attention and criticism at the same time from the industry and public at large.
He announced he would be dropping an album this year via an open letter to fans after losing out at the Headies 2015.
5. Banky W
Although the Empire mates entertainment CEO did not release any major single until the tail end of the year when he teased fans with the duet track All i want is you with Capital first lady; Chidinma, giving us what to expect from his album set to drop this year.
We absolutely can’t wait for the album which, we heard from Cobhams as at November 2015, is in its finishing stage.
Omawonder also would be dropping an album this year.
Cobhams also confirmed this to YNaija exclusively in a chat at Seyi Shay’s album launch in November 2015.
He said the album is a masterclass and is near ready.
7. Yemi Alade
Mama Africa is the name of the second album of the Effyzie music group singer.
With radio hit singles such as Nagode, Sugar and Durotimi we expect nothing else short of amazing.
The album is scheduled for release in March this year.
8. Seyi Shay
After dropping her debut album Seyi or Shay in 2015, the Stargurl co-owner is set to drop an international album in 2016.
This is as a result of her record deal with UK’s Island Records.
The supersun singer is set to release his sophomore album officially this year after he held a private listening session of the album in November 2015.
The album titled Gbagyi Child is produced by Cobhams Asuquo.
The album which took the singer two years to make is said to be a body of dynamic sounds from different origins telling different stories.
