First Mrs Meiying simply tied her hair behind her back, when it became too long, she plaited her mane in a single braid which she wears as a turban or just wraps it around her waist.

She said: “I always treat my long braid like a treasure and talisman. I think growing hair is like maintaining life so I haven’t cut it.”

Even when she was offered a 19,000 yuan (N596,100) for her unbelievably long braid Mrs Meiying refused. The old woman hopes to get into the Guinness Book of World Records.
